The League of United Latin American Citizens Queens Council (LULAC) will present Argentinian pianist Rosa Antonelli in a special benefit concert on Wednesday, October 22, 2014, 8:00 p.m. at Carnegie Hall.

LULAC, devoted to advancing the economic condition; educational attainment; political influence; health; and civil rights of the Hispanic Americans, will use the proceeds to benefit its education programs and scholarship funds. LULAC offers educational services for both young people and adults, including after-school programs and scholarships, financial workshops, and immigration seminars.

Gabriel Roldos, Executive Director of LULAC Council 23047, states, “The funds raised will assist in developing community workshops designed to meet the needs of the Hispanic community, to help prepare a workforce with the educational skills necessary to be part of a productive economy.

“Our goal is to keep students from dropping out of high school, and also to give them aspirations of higher education careers. We award the best students with special leadership training and scholarship incentives for higher education. We engage parents in financial education workshops, offer seminars and conferences about tax law and tax preparation, and offer conferences and workshops on immigrant rights.”

Rosa Antonelli, a champion of Latin-American and Spanish music, will perform works by Albéniz, Piazzolla, Ginastera, Ponce, Villa-Lobos and others, including the New York premieres of Isaac Albéniz’ Champagne Waltz, and Louis Gianneo’s Tres Danzas Argentinas.

Ms. Antonelli says, “As an Argentinean pianist I am proud to be part of the Hispanic community. I consider it my privilege and honor to offer my talents to help LULAC in furthering the wonderful programs and scholarships that they are so valiantly offering. I hope that everyone who is a member of the Hispanic community will give this organization his or her fullest support.”

LULAC’s Queens Council serves as a powerful platform for the Latino arts community, Ms. Antonelli’s concert is a unification of this work, showcasing the artistry of a Latin American virtuoso in Latin American repertory.
