Rosa Antonelli is enjoying an active and varied performance
career. Her artistic insight and flawless technique are combined
to create an impressive musical vision. She has been hailed
by critics as a leading exponent of Spanish and Latin American
music. In 1986 she was awarded the Rosa Sabater Price from
the Spanish Government, for the best interpretation of Spanish
music. She has premiered the works of Latina American composers
such as Piazzola, Ugarte, Gianneo among others, and has introduced
the Piano Concert op. 20 by Scriabin to audiences throughout
the Americas.
Rosa Antonelli has made extensive tours in Europe, Asia, Latin
America and the United States performing in countries including:
Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, Spain, Israel,
Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Holland and
Italy, Czeck Republic, Israel, Argentina, Brazil, Colombia,
China and Mexico. After her initial tour of Europe in 1987,
she toured twenty countries afterwards in 1990, reestablishing
her presence in Europe, Asia and Africa.
Her most recent New York area performances were at Lincoln
Center, the Latin American Festival at Queens Theater in the
Park, Steinway Hall (1988), The United Nations, Hofstra University
Queens College, The Harvard Club (1999) and Carnegie Hall.
Many of Ms. Antonelli's concerts have been broadcast internationally.
In 1999 Ms. Antonelli performed at the “Millennium
Tree of Nations”, a fund raiser gala to support the
United Nation’s Women’s Guild Children’s
Fund in benefit of need children in New York City and the
world.
Ms. Antonelli has been sponsored by government organizations
such as the Office of the President, the Ministry of Culture
and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In addition, she has
been sponsored by cultural organizations including The Chopin
Society (Poland), Italo-IberoAmerican Institute (Italy), Yehudi
Menuhin’s Live Music Now, The Alex Vries Foundation
(Belgium) and The Rubin Academy of Music (Israel). Ms. Antonelli
also participated in the musician's contest organized by this
academy, where she was unanimously chose for the first prize.
In 1994 she was appointed - again unanimously - by public
vote as Titula Professor of the National University of Buenos
Aires's Piano Department.
Ms. Antonelli has performed at such renowned music centers
such as: The Palazzo Visconti in Milan, The Opera Theatre
in Cairo, The Augustinum Theater in Bonn, The Atheneo Theater
in Madrid, The Glinka Museum in Moscow, The Cristofori Hall
in Amsterdam, The Maria Callas Concert Hall in Tel Aviv.
A disciple of Roberto Caamano, Rosa Antonelli has studied
with Masters of the Piano including Daisy de Luca, a student
of Magda Tagliaferro, Rosalyn Tureck and Rafael Puyanas. She
also earned a Masters Degree of Superior Professor of Music
with Honors (specialty field: Piano), from the National Conservatory
of Buenos Aires, where she performed at the foremost artistic
and cultural centers including the Colon Theater, the General
San Martin Theater, the Cultural Center City of Buenos Aires,
the Ricardo Rojas Museum, the Rosario Circle Theater, the
Mar de Plata Auditorium and the San Carlos Bariloche City
Hall.
Awards and Honors
Other awards and honors include: the Grand Prize for performance
given to Ms. Antonelli at the International Piano Seminar
in Rio de Janeiro; special scholarship from the Leonor Hirsh
de Von Bush Foundation, and the place of Guest of Honor at
the course offered by Professor Alfonso Montecito, a disciple
of Claudio Arrau, in 1985 and 1986.
In addition to holding lectures and seminars on Piano Technique
and Interpretation in the USA; as well as various European
and Latin American countries, Ms. Antonelli taught at the
Alberto Ginastera's Provincial Conservatory of Music in Buenos
Aires, where she acted a chairwoman of the Piano Department
for 10 years.
Following her service as Professor of PIano at the National
University of Buenos Aires's Schools of Arts, Ms. Antonelli
came to the USA, where she was appointed Professor of Piano
at Adelphi University. She served in this capacity for a period
of four years.
Ms. Antonelli is also a member of the college of Music Society
and has been on the distinguished Steinway Roster since 1998.
